About SymbolDex

SymbolDex is a free tool built to help you find, copy and understand symbols, Unicode characters and emoji quickly.

Its goal is to bring practical information that is often scattered across different sources into one place: the character ready to copy, its name, Unicode code point, HTML and programming representations, meaning, common uses, examples and ways to type it across different systems and apps.

  • Switch between the English and Spanish versions of the same entry.

Sources and accuracy

SymbolDex’s technical database relies primarily on public data from the Unicode Standard and linguistic data from CLDR. Explanatory text is provided for informational and practical purposes.

Unicode and the names of products, operating systems or applications mentioned belong to their respective owners. SymbolDex is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Unicode Consortium, Apple, Microsoft, Google or other third parties mentioned on this website.

Built as a reference tool

SymbolDex is not intended to be a news blog. Its content is organised as a long-term reference database so you can find a character, understand what it represents and use it where you need it.
